World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, 30 July 2023
03 August 2023
Join us on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, 30 July 2023, as we raise awareness about the heinous violation of human rights through human trafficking. This crime thrives in times of conflict and preys on vulnerable individuals, mostly women and children. The United Nations, led by IOM and other agencies, plays a pivotal role in supporting Timor-Leste's efforts to combat trafficking. Together, they work to develop policies, strengthen law enforcement, and coordinate efforts with various stakeholders to prevent and investigate trafficking cases. However, more needs to be done to protect victims and bring criminals to justice. Let us unite to build a world where no one is bought, sold, or exploited, and where survivors receive the support they need to rebuild their lives. Join us in the fight against trafficking and ensure no victim is left behind.
