ONE UN, ON VOICE Episode 1Introducing the UN Reform: A Path to Sustainable Development
The United Nations Development System (UNDS) has embarked on a transformative journey, implementing extensive reforms to enhance its effectiveness in assisting nations worldwide to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These reforms, as highlighted by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, are aimed at ushering in a new era of country teams operating under a strategic UN Development Cooperation Framework, led by impartial and independent Resident Coordinators.
In his own words, Secretary-General Guterres emphasizes the need for bold changes to align with the 2030 Agenda, stating, "The 2030 Agenda will require bold changes to the UN development system for the emergence of a new generation of country teams cantered on a strategic UN Development Cooperation Framework and led by an impartial and independent Resident Coordinator." This paradigm shift places greater emphasis on prioritizing people's well-being over bureaucratic processes, striving for enhanced efficiency, effectiveness, and fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment built upon principles of equality and integrity.
