UN Timor-Leste Annual Report 2023

As we present the UN Timor-Leste Annual Report 2023-24, it is with a profound sense of responsibility and a deep commitment to the transformative journey embarked upon by the Government of Timor-Leste, in partnership with the United Nations System. This document serves not just as a record of the year’s endeavours but as a testament to the collaborative efforts aimed at fostering sustainable de­velopment, enhancing social protection, and ensuring environmental and economic sustainability within the vibrant island nation of Timor-Leste.

The United Nations in Timor-Leste has been pivotal in supporting the nation’s developmental journey through a comprehensive and collabo­rative approach. In 2023, amidst a backdrop of political transition and global economic uncertainties, the UN Country Team (UNCT) and its partners, under the leadership of the Resident Coordiantor have signifi­cantly contributed to the country’s efforts in recovery, resilience-build­ing, and sustainable development. The successful review and presen­tation of the Timor-Leste 2nd Voluntary National Review (VNR) have showcased a forward-looking approach towards sustainable develop­ment, with a significant emphasis on youth engagement and envision­ing a future benchmarked against the SDGs.
